Pepecoin and MiCA

Since 30 December 2024, the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) has required a white paper before a crypto-asset can be admitted to trading on an EU platform. Pepecoin's was notified on April 7, 2026 and published on May 8, 2026, for trading on Kraken.

What MiCA asks for

  1. Write a white paper

Whoever offers a crypto-asset, or asks for it to be traded, describes it: the project, the people responsible, the technology, the rights it gives and the risks. That is Article 6, for crypto-assets that are not stablecoins.

  2. Notify the regulator

The white paper goes to the competent authority of the home Member State before publication (Article 8).

  3. Publish it

It must then be published and kept available on the website (Article 9).

MiCA is a notify-and-publish system. The white paper itself must state: “This crypto-asset white paper has not been approved by any competent authority in any Member State of the European Union.”

Pepecoin's white paper

Who filed it. Pepecoin LLC, for the admission of PEP to trading on Kraken in the EU. Kraken's European business has held a MiCA licence from the Central Bank of Ireland since June 25, 2025.

What it states about PEP. No premine, no pre-allocation and no ICO; every coin came from mining, and Pepecoin LLC holds no PEP (sections D.9 and G.5). A fixed 10,000 PEP per block, about once a minute, with no supply cap (section G.13).

What it is not. Not an endorsement, a guarantee or advice. It is a disclosure document under EU law.

Common questions

Is PEP approved by the EU?

No authority approves this kind of white paper. MiCA requires every one to say that it has not been approved by any competent authority in any EU Member State. Notification means the paper was sent to the regulator and published, nothing more.

Why can’t I trade PEP on Kraken in my country?

Which countries an exchange serves is its own policy and a matter of local rules. It is not a rule of the Pepecoin network.

Where can I read the white paper?

On pepecoin.com: pepecoin.com/mica-whitepaper.xhtml. Kraken also keeps a list of the white papers for the assets it lists.
